What is Spirituality?

Spirituality is a worldview that believes there is more to life than what meets the eyes. It includes beliefs in a higher form of intelligence running the universe, and life after death. It also includes a deeper connection with oneself, others, and nature. It also includes practices and rituals that help you develop self-scrutiny, hope, pacifism, peace, responsibility, mysticism, values, and transcendence.

It may also include religion – but that’s not always the case, as some people who are spiritual do not practice any particular religion. It can also involve a focus on mindfulness, heart meditation, prayer, journaling, gardening, or any other activity that brings meaning and purpose to your life. It’s important to be aware of how you use your spirituality, though. Some people can get into a spiritual mindset and become selfish or narcissistic, and there’s also the possibility that you could end up relying on your spirituality to avoid dealing with problems or emotions in your life.

Many people who seek spirituality go through some kind of spiritual awakening, such as a traumatic experience or big life change. These experiences can bring about a desire to find more meaning in life, or they can be the result of a deepening of one’s existing religion. Spirituality is often viewed as separate from religion, but it’s really just an inner process of finding more purpose and meaning in our lives. It can be a great source of comfort and strength during difficult times.
