The Power of Entertaiment

Entertaiment is a broad category of recreational activities that encompasses anything from the choice of a private entertainment – a film or album – to a meal adapted for two people, to performances aimed at global audiences. In many cases entertainment evolves from activities that were once used for practical purposes, such as hunting or war – for example, archery, which has evolved into a spectator sport. The power of entertainment can be seen in the way that stories, such as Scheherazade (a story from the Persian professional storytelling tradition) have inspired composers to create orchestral works; directors to make films; and developers to create innovative video games.
