We at the United War Veterans Council (UWVC) wish to thank all who helped make the honorable activities of honoring service, past and present a success. Truly it is a team effort of sponsors and volunteers giving graciously and wholeheartedly. At the UWVC we often profoundly say when touched by the good deeds and effects caused – “It’s what we DO”! The Goodwill Valentine’s Day Caravan

Traveling throughout the tri-­state, D.C., Virginia, Maryland, military bases and veteran’s hospitals; wounded warriors at the Walter Reed Army Hospital and the Mologne House.

Present Valentine cards, gifts, toiletries, DVDs, CDs, other!

“Never Forget” Veterans Day Parade Reception and Briefing and the ‘From Then to Now’ video on the history of the NYC Veterans Day Parade.
Held at the prestigious Union League Club; inform the leadership of the veterans’ community, elected officials and corporate sponsors of the significance of the 10th Anniversary of 9-­11 and its relation to Veterans Day 11-­11-­11

Remembering the 1,741 KIA, from NYC, in Vietnam War; honoring their family members and friends. Held at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Plaza, NYC

Held at FOX TV Plaza; announcing the Veterans Day Parade broadcast live on Fox TV


NY Welcomes Wounded Warriors Gala Hope & Possibilities Race/Achilles International, Central Park, NYC

Welcoming and supporting wounded warriors from Walter Reed Army Hospital and the Bethesda Naval Hospital to NYC (many for the 1st time) who, along with thousands of others, participated proudly in a race throughout Central Park, bringing attention to the needs of and our veterans and their families.

Soldier Ride/Honor Ride

Dozens of Wounded Warriors on bicycles traveled throughout NYC -­? bring attention to helping veterans.

August

Military Appreciation Day

Hosted by Staten Island Yankees;
Our ‘Thank You For Serving’ poster boards displayed for public signage and well wishes.

September

Gold Star Family Sunday

A national day of recognition to all those who lost a family member in service to our country.
Wreath laying ceremony and unfurling of the iconic 9-­11 flag in front of the Statue of Liberty on Liberty Island.

October

Soldier Ride Gala

We were invited to speak, along with elected officials and honored guests, to all participating wounded warriors, at the conclusion of a bicycle race throughout Phoenix, Arizona; headquarters of
U-­Haul International, who hosted the events.

November

The Eternal Light Monument

Made ready for the Opening Ceremony of the Veterans Day Parade by
Cub Scout Pack #526 who cleaned entire monument as their contribution to our veterans’ community.

Tens of thousands participated; hundreds of thousands watched the parade live; millions viewed the entire parade – broadcast live on Fox TV.
