With the holiday season upon us, tens of thousands of New Yorkers will remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our great nation.
What better place to pay respect to the fallen, and to those family members who borne their remembrance, than historic Battery Park? This patriotic public space is steeped in military history with various monuments honoring the sacrifices of New Yorkers who have served our nation.
Each area below will have a series of Ceremonial Wreaths, representing one wreath for each branch of the military (Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard).

Tuesday, Dec 7th (Pearl Harbor Day)

East Coast Memorial, Battle of the Atlantic (WW II) – Battery Park
A brief ceremony consisting of the US Navy Color Guard, key note speakers and patriotic music will mark the annivesary of the start of World War II, and will honor those of all services and eras who have served, who are presently serving, and who have fallen in service.

Korean War Monument – Battery Park
A ceremony closing out this year’s activities commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the start of the Korean War (1950-2010).

Vietnam Veterans Memorial Plaza (at 55 Water Street)
A special tree lighting ceremony, featuring Christmas trees decorated with 1,741 gold stars, each representing a New Yorker lost in Vietnam.
The general public is warmly invited to all these events!
